Thank you for your interest in participating as a artisan, vendor, or organizational representative for New Voices Pittsburgh‘s 7th Annual Kinks, Locks & Twists: Environmental and Reproductive Justice Conference™, to be held in the Hill District of Pittsburgh, PA from April 22-26, 2015.
This year we will host the conference in April to incorporate Earth Day and to honor our deepening commitment to our Environmental Justice Project, symbolized with the Adinkra symbol, Asase Ye Duru,or the “Earth has weight”.
The Kinks, Locks and Twists Conference™ offers women of color a unique space to explore the dynamic relationship between the health and well-being of our bodies, communities and the environment in both a local and global context. The KLT Conference™ also offers women across ethnicities, nationalities and cultures an opportunity to remember, celebrate and connect to the legacy of rich relationships to the land. Lastly, the KLT Conference™ serves as an incubator to share models and develop practices to solve the systemic problems impacting the most marginalized communities in an increasingly toxic world.
This festival will feature a host of arts & crafts, environmental groups, health & wellness practitioners, businesses and community organizations. We will have wonderful performances, special guests and lots of giveaways. It will be a vibrant celebration of the of the Hill District community and the Pittsburgh community as a whole. We expect to have at least 300 people in attendance with special guest speakers, and activities.
